Mantra to deal with Employee Absenteeism Part II

In the Part-I article, I discussed about the 4 positive interventions that can help to decrease employee absenteeism. Let’s now delve deep into each of those aspects and understand what is required to be practiced by you as active HR practicing personnel:

• The first intervention is pertaining to alteration in the Management Style

This is for the fact that an employee most of the times is not ill when he or she calls and gives this excuse. One major reason for such lame excuse is owing to stress. And stress can be due to strained rapport with their supervisor or manager.

Authoritarian Management Styles elevates high degree of absenteeism. Your manager is authoritarian or not can be determined if:

1. Lacking listening skills.

2. Setting Unattainable goals.

3. Bad communicator.

4. Not flexible.

To sum up, a manager who holds other responsible for all the troubles are authoritarian. Hence, take a positive step, modify such behavior and reduce your employee absenteeism.
