Employee background checks are an important part of the interview process. They allow you to easily detect anything hidden or secret about the employee that may later be a problem. And no this does not mean did the employee have a rhinoplasty nose job, it is the serious stuff such as jail time or fraud or something that would make that person un trustworthy. Many people are concerned about the privacy issues with these checks. A business needs to perform them to verify what they have been told by the employee just want to be sure that their new employee will help them bring more money into the business. Every item in a resume should be verified. A check for legal status should also be run. Keep in mind that the background check may not always be correct and you should talk about discrepancies with the employee.
