The Importance of Sick and Vacation Time
One employee benefit that is often overlooked is sick leave and vacation time. Sick leave is so important yet more and more businesses either do not provide enough or give you the third degree when taking sick leave. The reality is that sick leave is also for mental health and sometimes you just need a personal day for mental health. Vacation time is another benefit that is often lacking. Vacation time should be used for those one week long vacations that at the end return you revitalized. Of course this is hard to do if you only get one week all year. I am also a fan of giving someone their sick leave and vacation time all upfront. Why make them slowly earn it and then have everyone take vacation and sick time at the end of the year?
