Becoming a great supervisor is best accomplished by copying a great supervisor as well as experience and extensive supervisor training. Here are some tips for a new supervisor:


1. Hire the best people

2. Do not micro manage

3. If someone needs to be micro managed fire them

4. Do not interfere with productivity or morale and know your supervisor role

5. Give bonuses

6. Support your employees and protect them as part of your supervisor duties

7. Focus on accomplishing the mission and caring for your employees

8. Hire someone who exemplifies your weaknesses of supervisor skills

9. Set Clear expectations and test for understanding

10. Keep your employees informed of the big picture whether you are an office or customer service supervisor

11. Always explain why they are being assigned this task and why it is important. If you can’t do this do not assign the task

12. Do not try and be your employees friends

13. Watch what you say and how you say it even when eating lunch

14. Ask for feedback

15. Stay calm

16. Always take more supervisor training
